Free range reporters, or political caged hens?

For Australia’s political reporters, finding the real story about government policy is often far more difficult than reporting the tittle-tattle of political gamesmanship. Critics of the 2010 election campaign said journalists and editors went in for the latter, and let down their readers. Is it going to happen again this election year?
